NHD: The Constitution and how it helped shape our country

The constitution came in as our country's rules and standards in replacement of the Articles of Confederation.  The Articles of Confederation gave more power to the states than the government.  States didn't have to pay national taxes, didn't have to give soldiers to the army.  The Articles of Confederation were the first "constitution" of the 13 untied states.  The Articles were created by the chosen representatives of the states in the Second Continental Congress out of a perceived need to have "a plan of confederacy for securing the freedom, sovereignty, and independence of the United States."

The constitution came in with 10 amendments, and was made to protect the right of the people.  It gave more power to government so that states couldn't break of or take control of themselves.  The Constitution wasnt made to protect the right of the people just then either, the founding fathers made it in controversy because they didnt know what it would be like today, or tomorrow or 3 years from now.
